A Message From Your Commanders
Dear Sully Community Members,
As the holiday season approaches, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant and prioritize safety. This newsletter offers timely tips on safe shopping, preventing package theft, and enhancing home security.
With the end of Daylight Saving Time, please adjust your routines for safer evening travel—use headlights, stay alert, and wear reflective gear if walking or cycling.
The holidays bring joy and increased activity throughout our neighborhoods, making it an ideal time to look out for one another. When shopping, park in well-lit areas, keep valuables out of sight, and avoid leaving packages unattended for extended periods. Simple steps like using timers for indoor lights and ensuring doors and windows are locked can go a long way in deterring potential burglars.
Thanks to your continued support of our mission to enhance public safety, prevent crime, and strengthen community relationships, crime rates have remained low. Our officers are prepared for the seasonal uptick in activity and encourage residents to connect with neighbors, share safety information, and report suspicious behavior promptly.
We’re also proud to highlight two FCPD holiday giving initiatives:
-
Santa’s Ride collects toys for children in hospitals and local charities.
-
Victim Services Gift Card Drive supports children affected by violence.
Your generosity makes a real difference. Every toy and gift card helps brighten the holidays for those in need. You’ll find more details about both programs in this newsletter.
Wishing everyone a safe and joyful holiday season.
Sincerely,
Major Russell and Captain Spooner Sully District Station fcpdsullycommander@fairfaxcounty.gov
