Science Fair
The Science Fair is coming to South County HS and we need judges! If you are available from 3:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 and are interested in judging, please fill out this Google form. Judges do not need science experience but should be able to give students feedback about their presentation, communication, and clarity of their experiment. We will be providing dinner to judges on the day of the Science Fair. If you have any questions, please email Maerna McClinton at mkmcclinton@fcps.edu.
SCHS Theatre Boosters
Combo Panera / Five Below Night on 12/04
Please join us on Thursday, December 4th between 4 and 8PM for a delicious meal at Panera followed by shopping at Five Below (9402 & 9409 Lorton Market St, Lorton, VA 22079)! Panera will donate 30% and Five Below will donate 10% of the purchases to the SCHS Theatre Boosters.

SCHS- Boys Basketball
The South County Class of 2026 has an AMAZING senior, Nicole Cousins, who is raising funds to support seniors in need of support paying their class fees or purchasing a ticket to the All Night Graduation Party. Nicole is sponsoring a KK Fundraiser during the Holiday Extravaganza on Saturday, 6 Dec 2025. Krispy Kreme Dozens will be sold on the day of the event, OR you can pre-order your dozen donuts for pickup up on the day of the event.
All dozens are sold by ONE FLAVOR. You can pre-order a dozen plain glazed, a dozen Raspberry filled, etc.
All of the details are in the attached flyer. Pre-order donuts must be paid for in advance.

On Tuesday, December 2nd, the Theatre Department will hold a Student-Directed One-Act Interest Meeting in the auditorium.

It’s a Wonderful Life is the story of George Bailey, a man who gives up his own dreams to support and uplift the people of his small-town community. On Christmas Eve, facing a overwhelming financial crisis, George falls into despair and wishes he had never been born. With the help of his guardian angel, Clarence, George is granted his wish and shown what the world would be like without him. Through this journey, he discovers the profound impact he has had on others and realizes the immeasurable worth of his own life. What greater gift could there be?

All Current 10th grade HPE students are required to attend one of the 4 scheduled PSTD (Partners for Safe Teen Driving) sessions held here at South County. This is part of the completion of the classroom portion of the Drivers Education curriculum in 10th grade HPE.
Students and a parent/guardian are required to attend one of the 90 minute session on one of the 4 evenings.
Sessions begin promptly at 7:00 pm in the auditorium- doors will close at that time with no late admittance.

The South County Activities Department is thrilled announce that we will be offering a number of new opportunities for students to get involved in competitive VHSL sponsored events this year

E-Sports - Love gaming? Come out and join the new South County E-Sports team. During the fall you'll compete in League of Legends and Smash Bros, during the spring season its Rocket League and Mario Kart. All four culminate in a statewide tournament. If interested, reach out to Mr. Smith in A118 or send him an email at bsmith2@fcps.edu.

Speech and Debate - students compete in a variety of public speaking, research, writing and acting events against other schools in the county and the state. Interested students should reach out to Mr. Hickman at mbhickman@fcps.edu and plan to attend the interest meeting immediately after school on Tuesday, Dec 2 in A126.
