Chantilly High School Celebrates 45 Years of Holiday Magic with “Holiday Spectacular” and “Tiny Tots,” Featuring Over 250 Student Performers

For 45 years, Chantilly High School Theatre has delighted young audiences with Holiday Spectacular and Tiny Tots, our beloved holiday tradition. This year, we proudly present Holiday Spectacular and Tiny Tots with the entire Performing Arts Department — Band, Choir, Theatre, and Orchestra — featuring over 250 student performers!

Theatre Director Shannon Spicer has been a part of the holiday magic for over half of its existence. “After 25 years in this role, I still feel the magic every time our students perform.  Holiday Spectacular and Tiny Tots are a chance for the community to come together, enjoy incredible performances, and share in the spirit of the season.”

Holiday Spectacular brings music, storytelling, colorful characters, and interactive fun for elementary-aged children and families. Tiny Tots is a 45-minute daytime version designed especially for preschoolers and younger audiences — perfect for your little ones’ first live theatre experience.

Celebrate this generational tradition and create new memories with your children. Join us for music, laughter, and the magic of the season — a community favorite since 1980!

Family Engagement Resources:

New FCPS AI Resources Webpage for Parents and Families

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new webpage dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) resources for students, staff, and families.

As AI technology rapidly evolves and becomes integrated into the educational landscape, we encourage all high school parents and guardians to explore this page to stay informed about FCPS's approach to AI.

Please visit the FCPS AI Resources webpage today:

Understanding AI is crucial for preparing our students for the future, and this resource is designed to support our entire community.

December event

School Photos are now online!

Families should have received an E-proof via email.

Please remember to check your junk folder!.

For any questions about your student's school pictures please contact: underclass@vosphoto.com

The team at Victor O’Neill Studios would like to thank Chantilly High School for a great picture day!

Checking out early?

The best and most efficient way to check your student out of school early is to send a note with them to take to their Subschool Office in the morning! Or call your child's subschool before 9 AM to request early dismissal. You can find the phone numbers at the bottom of this email and on the Chantilly Attendance page.

  • Your student will receive a pass to leave class at the time you specify.
  • You won't need to come inside the school; your student will simply come out to meet you.

Please be aware that if you sign your student out in person, it can take up to 30 minutes for the pass to reach them, making sending a note the quickest option!

Important Reminders:

  • Email is not accepted for reporting absences or early checkouts.
  • If a student becomes sick during the school day, they must be checked out through the clinic, not the Subschool Office.

SEL Screener Reports

Social and Emotional Learning Screener: Parent Reports

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener last month, providing information on skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.

Individual student SEL Screener results will be available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE the week of November 17. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be shared by our school.

For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to school staff.

Volunteer FCPS

Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools

The new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities at our school or across the school district.

Volunteer FCPS is how FCPS provides a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. Anyone interested in volunteering with FCPS must:

  • Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
  • Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
  • Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk on EVERY visit – no exceptions.

Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity Levels

Due to the overwhelming response, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.

Field trip chaperone opportunities will now be classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting).

To ensure continuous safety, all new volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal confirmation that you have no history of violent felonies, physical or sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude (dishonesty, fraud, things that are immoral by society’s standards).

Visit the Volunteer FCPS website to complete a volunteer orientation. View Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
