TRAVELING EXHIBIT OPENS DECEMBER 10

The Cold War

At The Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center

This traveling exhibit from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History examines some of the major events of the Cold War.

Between 1945 and 1991, the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics (also known as the USSR) battled for global dominance.

The exhibit will be open from December 10th through January 9th at the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center. The museum is open Wednesday - Monday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Note Holiday closures below)

Founding Frenemies: Hamilton and the Virginians remains open at the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center through December 8.

Historic Blenheim - Open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center - Open Wednesday through Monday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

2026 Program Sign-ups

Registration for select Office of Historic Resources programs scheduled between January – April 2026 will open Sunday, November 30 at 12:00 p.m.

Programs that require registration are marked on our website; others are drop-in and open to all. Check in on November 30 to see what we have planned!

Historic Resources Programs

Historic Blenheim and the Civil War Interpretive Center and the Fairfax Museum & Visitor Center will have winter closures for routine maintenance, deep-cleaning, and operational planning.

Historic Blenheim
Closed beginning December 21. The closure will continue through at least January 31, with reopening announced when scheduled.

The Fairfax Museum & Visitor Center
Closed December 24 and 25, and January 1. In January, The Visitor Center remains open, but the upstairs gallery will be closed through January 31. Visitors interested in rotating exhibits are encouraged to check the museum’s website for the latest schedule.
