A Message from the Principal
What a joy to see so many of our families this past Thursday for our Thanksgiving Luncheon. I know our students loved having you join them. We had such an amazing response that we plan to make adjustments to next year's schedule.
During our PTA Meeting I shared the impact of the Boundary Review Study on Centre Ridge. Our school is projected to be at 101% capacity while other schools around us would be at 60% or 80% capacity. If you want to learn more about the Boundary Review Study go to https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/maps/2024-2026-boundary-review
We are scheduled to have our 2nd Annual Turkey Trot on Tuesday, November 25th during Specials. We are monitoring the weather and we will let you know by Monday afternoon if we will have to cancel this event.
This week we have Thanksgiving Break, November 26-28, and we want to make sure that everyone can take a break and enjoy some downtime. We will not be asking students to complete any work over the break. Of course we always encourage our students to read. Upon returning from break, we will not have any tests/quizzes on Monday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 2. We also ask our staff to disconnect from work from November 26-30. During the break, staff will not be available to respond to emails.
Lastly, since this week is a short week, we will not be sending out our weekly newsletter. During this time of gratitude and thanks, I want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.
Sincerely,
Erika Aspuria
Principal

2nd Annual Turkey Trot
On Tuesday, November 25th, our students will participate in our 2nd Annual Turkey Trot. Students will run laps around the school during their Specials block. We ask that all students wear running shoes and bring a water bottle. Families are invited to come cheer their child on. We are currently monitoring the weather. We will notify families on Monday afternoon if the event is cancelled.
Family Life Education Instructional Program Information
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a comprehensive, sequential Family Life Education (FLE) program for students in grades kindergarten through grade twelve. Instruction is seen as a partnership among parents and guardians, the school, and the community in supporting the learning essential to the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community.
Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of all or part of the Family Life Education program. Students who are opted out are provided with age-appropriate, nonpunitive alternative health instruction, and every effort is made to foster respect for family choices. If you wish to opt your child out of all or part of FLE for this school year, opt out forms are available in Parent Digital Consent. Paper opt-out forms are available from your child’s school. Students receiving special education services and accessing modified curriculum will receive a printed opt-out form for modified FLE lessons.
Detailed grade-level program descriptions are available online at Elementary (K-6) , Middle School (7-8) , and High School (9-12). FLE grade level-specific lessons and media that FCPS has streaming rights for are available for parents online in Schoology. Parents/guardians login to Schoology using the same username and password as their Student Information System (SIS) Parent account. Grade level-specific lessons are also available at the City of Fairfax Regional Library (this location does not have media). Grade level-specific lessons and media that is not streamed online are available for review at your child’s school library. Due to copyright permissions, we are unable to stream all media online.
Program questions may be addressed at your child’s school or by contacting Instructional Services at 571-423-4550 or by email to fle@fcps.edu. Centre Ridge will hold a Parent Preview Night on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 5:30-6:30 pm. The meeting will be held virtually. The link will be shared out via Talking Points prior to the meeting.
