A letter from our editor:
I'm just going to say it: I sort of hate Black Friday. My email box is overflowing with urgent reminders from brands telling me to hurry, hurry, hurry to their site — all so I don't miss out "saving" on something that I might not have known even existed 20 seconds ago. The pressure is real, and surprisingly effective! If I'm not careful, I actually end up losing money on too many sales — not to mention an accumulation of stuff I have to figure out what to do with.
Well, not this year, friends! I am prepared with a strict list and even stricter budget. If I purchase anything at all, it is something I've already planned to buy — period! And if there's something that catches my eye that isn't on my list? I'm going to take a photo, and add it to my wait-and-see wishlist.
Here are some of the things I'm eyeing this year — items that enrich our lives and are worth the cost, on sale or not. Which is a great reminder when you get that bummer feeling from missing out on a sale: It's easy to square paying full price when you love the brand and want to support their business. That's how I know I'm actually saving money on a big sale — because I love the brand and the product so much, I am going to buy it either way.
So stay strong this season, and remember you can go slow and stick to your own schedule, no matter what the sales say.
Warmly, Ashley Senior Editor
