Onto the second round

The football playoffs continue this weekend with teams looking to reach the quarterfinals.

Naperville North and Streamwood’s boys soccer team have advanced to the state tournament at Hoffman Estates.

The area’s best cross country runners compete Saturday at the state meet in Peoria.

And Thursday night was a busy one on the volleyball court where Benet, Fremd and Libertyville were among the sectional champions, now just one win away from next weekend’s state tournament at Illinois State University.

Kevin Schmit looks back at the first round of the football playoffs and the number of one-sided games.
