Credit: AFP, via Getty Images | Typhoon Kalmaegi has left a trail of destruction across the Philippines, killing at least 114 people and flooding entire towns on Cebu, the region's most populous island. Reports suggest most of those killed had drowned, as the storm sent torrents of muddy water down hillsides and into towns. Already one of the strongest storms to hit Asia this year, Kalmaegi picked up strength as it barrelled towards Vietnam, where hundreds of thousands of people have been ordered to evacuate the coastal city of Quy Nhon, and neighbouring areas. Six airports across the country have closed. |

| BEYOND THE HEADLINES | Will Musk get his £1tn pay package? |
|
| | | Some Tesla investors and advisory companies have urged shareholders to reject Musk's latest pay deal. Credit: Reuters | The board of electric car maker Tesla is urging shareholders to approve a pay deal that could be worth up to $1tn (£765bn) for its boss, Elon Musk. It has even taken out digital ads to make its case.
