Character Day

Fourth Grade Teachers Dressed in Characters from Benchmark Unit 2

First and Second Quarter Curriculum

First Quarter Curriculum Overview | First Quarter Homework

Second Quarter Curriculum Overview | Second Quarter Homework

On November 3rd and 4th the instructional staff at Dranesville engaged in professional learning and school planning. Staff revisited the 25-26 School Innovation and Improvement Plan (SIIP), reviewed Fall Assessment Data, established instructional commitments for second quarter, and submitted first quarter progress report marks.

Progress reports will come home with students on Wednesday, November 12th. Along with Progress Reports, several Family Reports will be shared with families. These reports will provide a snapshot of your child's current strengths and areas for growth in reading and mathematics. Progress report family information from Dranesville will include:

  • Progress Report Supplement Cover Letter
  • Grades K - 6 Quarter 1 Attendance Progress Report
  • Grades 1-6 VALLSS Student Report
  • Grades 1-6 MAP Family Report
  • Grades 3-6 iReady Family Report
  • Multilingual Learner English Language Development Goals

Students identified for reading intervention based on VAALLS (K-3) or math intervention based on MAP (1-6) are receiving this intervention November 10th through December 19th. Student's reading plans are available in SIS Parent VUE. We appreciate all of your efforts to schedule appointments and vacations during school holidays so that students are present for instruction.

As we approach the winter holidays, please keep in mind that instruction including intervention and enrichment are planned for every school day. Our goal is for every student to be achieving on or above grade level by the end of the school year. Grade level instruction and specialized instruction is delivered every day.

Family Coffee

Join us for a Family Coffee on November 17th at 9:30 am to learn about the assessments that are being used to monitor and measure your child's learning. Can't make it on Monday? Come to the PTA meeting on Wednesday, November 19th at 7:00 pm for the same information.

You're Invited to a Celebration of Culture, Community, Language, and Literacy

Celebration

Dranesville Elementary School

November 6th | 6:00 - 7:30 pm

K-2 Student Performances | Potluck Dinner | Literacy Night

We look forward to celebrating culture, community, and students' learning on Thursday, November 6th. K-2 students will have the opportunity to present songs and dances that they have been learning in FLES with Sra. Ray.

During the evening, be sure to visit the gym where we will have four stations with hands-on activities to help with students' English Language Development. We will provide materials for you to take home to continue your child's learning at home.

One of our most beloved traditions about this celebration is sharing favorite family dishes. Please bring a dish to share for this community potluck. If you would like your family's favorite recipe included in Dranesville's Family Cookbook bring a copy of your family's recipe or submit it here.

Dranesville's 6-7 Reading Challenge

Drake is challenging all of our Dragons to read 6-7 books between October 28th and December 16th. That is just one book each week for the 6-7 weeks between October 28th and winter break. Reading logs came home with students on October 28th. Students may also log their reading online.
