Branching Out
Book discovery platform Tertulia is now expanding its focus from readers to writers with a new author-tailored automated website builder that has garnered more than 10,000 beta users. Liz Kribs has been elevated to copublisher at Penguin Random House Canada’s Tundra Book Group, joining PRHC VP Tara Walker in the role. In this week’s magazine, we unpacked one of the hottest new trends in fantasy fiction, women knights, whose popularity poses a challenge to traditional gender roles. Penguin Random House is suing Donald Sutherland’s estate for blocking publication of the late actor’s memoir, per the Hollywood Reporter. Netflix has landed rights to a live-action movie adaptation of Eloise, with Ryan Reynolds attached to star, Variety reports. CBS dives into how the horror boom has dovetailed with the resurrection of brick-and-mortar specialty bookstores on a visit to Brooklyn’s Twisted Spine. In the U.K., Pan Macmillan has issued an apology to author Kate Clanchy, whose Some Kids I Taught and What They Taught Me was at the center of an online controversy in 2021. And for Lit Hub, Sarah Weinman praises libraries as bastions of truth-keeping.
