Afterschool Activities Updates and VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers STILL need to be identified by this Friday, November 7th or Winter and Spring Session will be cancelled.

This Fall, we are proud to have 94 students participating in PTA-sponsored afterschool activities, and the season is off to a wonderful start! Of these students, 10 received sponsorships through the Manns Home Youth Foundation, with generous support from Westwood Cares (a charitable foundation of Westwood Country Club) and our partnered vendors — Love the Ball, Art Wolves, Ascendly (Legos), and Kids in Motion (Run Club) — who also provided need-based scholarships.  We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners and community supporters for helping us provide enriching extracurricular opportunities for our Cardinals!

To ensure our Afterschool Activities Program continues through the remainder of the school year, we are in urgent need of parent volunteers to assist with attendance one day per week (Tuesdays) during the Winter Session, which runs from mid-January through mid-March.  We are also seeking volunteers for the Spring Session (Tuesdays and Thursdays, March–June), which includes both Afterschool Activities and Girls on the Run. Volunteers will help with attendance and student check-in for both programs.  If you are able to volunteer please reach out to Sup Pollak at afterschool@cpes-pta.org.

Unfortunately, without firm volunteer commitments for either session by Friday, November 7th, both sessions will need to be cancelled.

(Note from the President: I've been doing the Fall session check-in for Tues and Thur and it's only 15 minutes of taking attendance. You get to chat with all these great students and even get some extra hugs from your own kids if they are participating.)

Book Fair Needs Volunteers

The Cunningham Park Fall Book Fair is November 17th-21st, with setup and preview days on Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th. Sign up here. We can't run the Book Fair without you!
