Today marks the kickoff of our year-end fundraising campaign at the Dallas Observer. Between now and December 31, we’re aiming to raise $30,000 to power our work into the new year.

Why am I so confident, particularly now, as the economy falters and the white noise of disinformation drowns out truthful reporting? Because the Observer was created as an “alternative” newspaper, based on the belief that in our city, there is a population of intelligent, passionate readers who care about the community and crave honest reporting. Through fat times and lean, we’ve always swum against the current, and our readers have been beside us as we make sense of uncertainty, focus on what matters and prepare for what’s ahead. Throughout this campaign, we’ll share moments when our newsroom made a difference and invite you to join us in this work.
