Ex-UH player arrested in federal probe into NBA and illegal betting

Damon Jones, a former basketball player at the University of Houston who won a title as an assistant coach with Cleveland, was arrested Thursday in an illegal gambling case.

Jones and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier were among six people charged Thursday with turning professional basketball into a criminal gambling operation by using inside information to place unlawful wagers, according to law enforcement sources. Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups has also been charged in a separate case.
