Prince Andrew announced today that he will “no longer use” his title, Duke of York, “after discussion with the King.” His statement noted the “continued accusations” against him, referring to Virginia Giuffre’s account that Andrew had abused her (which he has repeatedly denied, including in today’s news). Giuffre died by suicide in April, but next week her publisher will release her devastating memoir, Nobody’s Girl, which contains more detailed allegations. This week, Vanity Fair published the first excerpt from the book, about Giuffre’s initial encounter with Ghislaine Maxwell (currently in prison for sex trafficking charges) at Mar-a-Lago, when Giuffre was 16 years old. Read the excerpt here, and the news about Andrew below. Vanity Fair will continue to follow this story. |
In recent days, the pressure has mounted for the palace to take decisive action over Andrew, who will continue to live at Royal Lodge, where he has a private tenancy agreement with the Crown Estate. Prince Andrew has agreed to give up his royal titles to save the royal family from further embarrassment over his connections with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
In the infamous Newsnight interview, Andrew claimed that he had cut off all contact with Epstein in 2010, but new reports suggest that he continued to correspond with the convicted pedophile. One email the prince wrote to Epstein in 2011, which was revealed as a part of a legal case earlier this year and published by media outlets last weekend, showed Andrew taking a casual tone. “It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it,” it read, per the British Times. |

Like any good party girl, Charli xcx was nowhere to be found when Vanity Fair’s fête celebrating her November issue cover story began at 7 p.m. sharp Thursday night. The event continued well past its designated ending time, as all good parties do. In the basement of Le Dive, Charli and her husband, The 1975 drummer George Daniel, danced under a disco ball as a DJ Matteo spun. The Dare was still there after-hours, chatting on a couch while Jack Harlow gave the DJ no less than 15 song suggestions—including but not limited to Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” the Bee Gees’s “Stayin’ Alive,” and Britney Spears’s “...Baby One More Time.” Daniel was by Charli’s side throughout. Turns out that when you’re Charli xcx, everything really is romantic. |
