This week's recipe: Tastier cabbage
 
 

 

Cabbage is a versatile vegetable that serves as a fantastic side dish for a variety of main courses, from a sausage and potato traybake to a chicken roast dinner.

While some are not a fan of this vegetable, they may change their mind when they follow Laura Fuentes’ simple sauteed cabbage recipe that requires one “secret ingredient”.

The food and nutrition expert said: “This easy recipe for sauteed cabbage shows you how to turn this simple veggie into a delicious caramelised simple side dish.”

Sautéing cabbage “adds a special flavour and texture” that you can’t achieve with steaming or boiling. However, to “make great cabbage”, you need to be cooking with a secret ingredient: vinegar.

Ingredients

  • One tablespoon of olive oil
  • Two cloves of garlic, minced
  • One head of cabbage, finely shredded
  • One teaspoon of salt
  • A quarter teaspoon of black pepper
