Communist bus driver Jim Drover is at a demonstration in Hyde Park when a policeman moves to strike down his wife. Acting on instinct, he stabs the officer to death to save his wife. Now Drover has been sentenced to hang, but the fallout of his crime and the efforts to fight for his mercy are stoking the flames of political unrest. Beyond turning the divided city upside down, Drover’s crime also has ramifications for his loved ones.
