Israel has begun a new ground offensive in Gaza City, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians living there are suffering famine, after calling up 60,000 reservists for an expanded military operation in the besieged Palestinian enclave.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday morning that Israel had launched a "significant" operation in Gaza, while far-right Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said on X that the long-awaited campaign had begun overnight.
