PNG Anniversary
Next Tuesday marks 50 years since Papua New Guinea became an independent nation. We find out more about the history of Australia’s nearest neighbour and speak to some locals about what the anniversary means to them. ✏️ Teacher Resource

Victoria Treaty
Australia’s first treaty with First Nations people has been introduced to Victoria’s parliament. It’s a formal agreement between the State Government and Victoria’s First Peoples - designed to recognise the state’s history and give Indigenous people more of a say in its future. We find out more about this treaty and why many are hoping it’s step towards national reconciliation.

Migration
Next week there’ll be citizenship ceremonies around Australia as we mark Citizenship Day. It’s a chance to celebrate what it means to be an Australian citizen, whether you were born here or migrated from another country. Young Saint
Last week Saint Carlo Acutis was officially canonised by the Catholic Church. Carlo, who died in 2006 at the age of 15, was known as God’s Influencer and is the first Millennial saint. We find out more about what canonisation is and what it means to Catholics and meet some kids whose new school building has been named after St Carlo.

Takeover Burnie – Lucus
Footy finals are here and with the AFL Grand Final next week, the whole country’s talking about the game. But in Burnie, Tasmania, 16-year-old Lucas has found his own connection to football - and it isn’t on the field. Lucas is a winner of the ABC’s Takeover competition – which asks young people to share stories about their lives – and tells us how running water for his dad’s footy club changed everything.

Nepal Protests
There are massive protests going on in Nepal right now that were sparked by a government crackdown on social media. They've been dubbed the 'Gen Z' protests, being mostly led by young people. We chat to one of the protesters about what's been happening.
