Postsecondary CTE
Colleges are seeking to reclassify more graduate programs -- such as social work -- as "professional" degrees to allow students to borrow more under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which caps most graduate loans at $20,500 per year but allows students in professional degree programs to borrow up to $50,000 per year. Preston Cooper, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, says the move could lead to higher student debt and tuition, and he suggests caution in allowing reclassification.

Workforce Training & Trends
Mo Gawdat, former chief business officer at Google X, has warned that artificial intelligence will lead to significant job losses -- a "jobs armageddon" -- within 5 to 15 years, potentially affecting even CEOs. Artificial general intelligence could soon outperform and replace top corporate leaders, he argues. “AGI is going to be better at everything than humans, including being a CEO. You really have to imagine that there will be a time where most incompetent CEOs will be replaced," Gawdat says.
Philips plans to invest over $150 million to expand its US manufacturing and R&D, focusing on AI-powered health technology. The expansion includes adding 24,000 square feet at the Reedsville, Pa., facility for ultrasound systems, creating 120 jobs, and expanding the Image Guided Therapy facility in Plymouth, Minn., adding 150 jobs.
Virtual job interview training offers realistic practice opportunities for individuals returning from incarceration, enabling them to build confidence and improve interview skills. The online simulator, used as part of a pre-release vocational program in two Michigan prisons, was shown to reduce interview-related anxiety and boost motivation among participants. Researchers suggest that integrating such virtual training into employment readiness services can help address the unique challenges faced by formerly incarcerated workers.
The White House is considering changes to how jobs data is collected and reported, following President Donald Trump's firing of Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner Erika McEntarfer after weaker-than-expected employment numbers. Trump has expressed frustration with data revisions, believing they are politically motivated. The administration is exploring new technologies to improve survey response rates, but critics, including former BLS commissioners, warn that these moves could undermine trust in the data.
