Faces of Fairfax City: DPI Adapted Fitness
 The latest Faces of Fairfax City episode features Devon Palermo, owner of DPI Adaptive Fitness, and Joanna Bonilla, president of Adaptive Fitness Legion and an adaptive boxer.
DPI is an accessible, adaptive gym that allows physical therapy patients to supplement or continue their training regimen. Members return to their rehab process in the same or even better shape than before. The gym fosters a supportive community that values health over everything else. Registration is Open for Civic Connections
Civic Connections: Understanding Fairfax City is a new civic engagement program designed to educate and empower community members.
Set to begin Sept. 10, this free, seven-week series offers a behind-the-scenes look into the inner workings of Fairfax City government, services, and community initiatives. Open to both residents and local business owners, the program promotes transparency, builds connections, and encourages active civic participation.
This program is being delivered by the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Fairfax and the Fairfax Forward Foundation.

Attend the Fairfax Art League Reception, Aug. 15
A public reception for the new Fairfax Art League exhibit will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in the City Hall Atrium.
Artwork is exhibited on the main and second floors and is available for purchase. The exhibit is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. (Artwork shown here by Rahul Bardhan.)

Expect Traffic Near The Flats on University on Aug. 16
The Flats on University residents will be moving in between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 16. Please see traffic information below regarding one-way traffic on Democracy Lane.
- One section of Democracy Lane will be one-way starting at the intersection of University Drive and Democracy Lane
- Courthouse Plaza Shopping Center Customers, please use entrances off of University Drive or Blenheim Boulevard

Learn Lifesaving Skills at Free Classes this Fall
Take a free public safety class offered by the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department with the Fairfax City Fire Department.
Classes are offered at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month through November at Fire Station 3.
Additionally, there will be a weeknight class at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Topics include hands-only CPR/AED, stop the bleed, stroke awareness, fire extinguisher and smoke alarm use, and more. Classes will continue in 2026. Enrollment is limited.

The city council in on August recess. A work session is slated for 7 p.m. Sept. 2. The tentative agenda is listed below (subject to change).
- Joint discussion with the School Board on the school bond and renovation timeline.
- Pre-Application Briefing on Fairfax Square.
- Presentation on Development Proffers: Overview and School-Specific.
- FY 2025 Carry Over Request/Reappropriation to FY 2026 for All Funds.
Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights in City Hall. Watch meetings live on Channel 12 (COX/Verizon) and online, or catch a replay at 10 a.m. or 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
