In 2022, a vulnerability in Twitter’s API allowed 5.4 million users’ emails and phone numbers to be collected and sold on the dark web. Twitter later admitted the issue had been exploited for months before discovery.

An unauthorized database managed by a third-party firm named Chtrbox exposed nearly 49 million profiles, including influencers' private emails and estimated earnings. None of this was with user consent.

💼 LinkedIn
Also in 2021, data from over 700 million LinkedIn profiles (93% of its users) was scraped and posted for sale. The leak included full names, emails, phone numbers, geolocation data, and professional histories.
