Fall River chief talks heroic rescues: ‘That fire was destined to kill 50+ people' |
Fall River’s fire chief shared stories about a number of heroic rescues made by members of his department who responded to Sunday night’s deadly fire at the Gabriel House assisted living facility, saying the death toll had the potential to be far higher if not for those efforts. “There’s no doubt in my mind that fire was destined to kill 50 plus people, and that the firefighters from Fall River, in conjunction with the police department and the EMS division… saved all of those lives. Unfortunately, nine were not able to be saved, but that number should have been four to five times higher.” At a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon said emotions are still raw, and while most of the firefighters who responded to the fire are back at work, they are not ready to talk yet. He asked for patience and said they will be able to speak in the days to come. |

What to make of Bill Belichick-Robert Kraft feud after latest comments |
Which person took the larger risk: Bill Belichick leaving the New York Jets to become New England Patriots head coach in 2000, or Patriots owner Robert Kraft spending a first-round pick to acquire Belichick via trade? It’s the latest chapter in the never-ending debate over who is more responsible for the Patriots’ unprecedented success in the 21st century — a run highlighted by six Super Bowl titles. Kraft did an interview on the Dudes on Dudes podcast last month with co-hosts — and Patriots legends — Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski in which he said his best decision as Patriots owner was hiring Belichick. But he also noted that it was a “big risk” at the time. |
