Algonquin Takes Two More from Korean Literary Star
Madeline Jones at Algonquin acquired world English rights to Bora Chung’s The Pain Chasers, in a two-book deal, from Toni Kim at the Greenbook Agency. The publisher described the novel, translated from the Korean by Anton Hur, as “a speculative thriller set in a world where pain has been eradicated by Big Pharma and a cult that believes suffering gives life meaning rises up against it.” Hannah Chukwu at Dialogue in the U.K. and Marika Webb- Pullman at Scribe Australia picked up rights from Laura Mamelok at Algonquin. Publication is set for fall 2026.
Random House Nabs George Harrison Photo Book
Andy Ward at Random House acquired world English rights to The Third Eye, a book of George Harrison’s personal photography, from agent David Rosenthal, for a fall 2026 release. The Beatles guitarist’s widow, Olivia Harrison (pictured), will edit.

Among this week’s offerings are Shawntelle Madison’s The Midnight Bus, a speculative novel during the 1961 Freedom Rides; Hayley Fleming’s debut rom-com Thighs Wide Shut, about two ex–best friends’ complicated reunion; Atlantic CEO Nicholas Thompson’s The Running Ground, a meditation on his experiences as a record-setting distance runner; Séamas O’Reilly’s darkly comic novel Prestige Drama, about the legacy of The Troubles; and Jim Collins’s What to Make of a Life, which shares the findings from his 10-year study of remarkable lives.
The Latest in Children’s and YA Deals
New projects this week include Until the Last Light Goes Out by Courtney Gould, a YA horror pitched as a “Miami Gothic” where in order to save her best friend, the daughter of an infamous massacre survivor must go into the abandoned island resort where her mother’s high school classmates were murdered, only to discover something far more sinister lying in wait; Cara Stout’s Enchanted to Meet You, a romance in which a teen gets cast as a princess at Fairytale Gardens with the mission to expose potential fraudulent activities, but must ignore the sparks that fly with the handsome casted prince, who also happens to be the owner’s son; and Beyond the Dust by Alison Gervais, a dual-narrative YA novel about a girl interning in a Colorado history museum who experiences the deadliest labor strike in American history through the eyes of a Hungarian girl with whom she feels a mysterious artistic connection.
