My heart goes out to all the victims and families of the flash flooding in Texas. How so very tragic. Twenty-seven young girls at a camp were killed. One hundred are dead, more are missing. I am not going political about the horrible events in Texas, because I don’t fully understand what happened yet or why. We will see; I know you know what I am sort of thinking as to who is at fault. We know that Trump’s new bill is allocating large amounts of money into immigration control, and that includes the idea of slave labor from “concentration camps.” The prisoners will be offered to businesses as labor, and Trump says they will largely be responsible for them. Normally in our country, policing is controlled on the state level, and that system has helped the US not become a police state. But because of the immigration push and the militarization of ICE, Trump is trying to get around that. In her letter yesterday, Heather Cox Richardson reported: “Harvard sociologist Theda Skocpol identified ‘massive militarization of ICE’ as ‘the real heart of this law.’ “Now Congress has given ICE unprecedented resources—much of this windfall to be used for graft with private contractors Trump patronizes, but lots of to hire street agents willing to mask themselves and do whatever they are told against residents and fellow American citizens. [Administration officials] are not interested only in rounding up undocumented immigrants,” she wrote to Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo. “They will step up using ICE and DOJ enforcements…to harass Democrats [and] citizen critics, and subvert future elections if they can.” That’s all for now. I hope you have a good evening, see you tomorrow. Thank you for being here.
