We are excited to announce that Leah Conte is joining Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology as our new Director of Student Activities.
Leah brings a wealth of experience to this role, with a distinguished career in Fairfax County Public Schools. Her previous experience as Director of Student Activities includes leadership positions at South County High School, South Lakes High School, and West Springfield High School. Additionally, Leah has served in an MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) role at West Springfield High School and has been a championship coach and dedicated teacher within FCPS. Her diverse background and proven leadership will be invaluable as we head into the new school year.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Leah Conte to the TJHSST community!
We also want to extend our sincerest gratitude to Dave Arthur, who served as Interim DSA when our former DSA, Dylan Forshay, moved into the Sub School Principal position here at TJ. We deeply appreciate Dave's exceptional leadership, commitment and contributions during the transitional period.
The TJ Sports Physical Fundraiser event will be held at TJ on Wednesday, JULY 30th, and will be a combined event for TJ, Marshall, and Lewis High Schools.

CHANGES TO VHSL PHYSICAL
Legislation introduced in the Virginia General Assembly and recently signed into law will result in two significant changes to the athletic pre-participation examination (physical) requirements for FCPS student-athletes:
- Beginning July 1, 2025, athletic physicals will be considered valid for a period of 14 months from the date the form is signed by the medical provider completing the exam. This is the date on page 3 of the VHSL Athletic Participation/Parent Consent/Physical Examination Form (revised January 2021).
- Beginning May 1, 2025, athletic physicals SHOULD be completed on the new VHSL Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Evaluation Form (revised April 2025).
- Link to that form on our website: VHSL Physical
- Pages 1, 2 and 3 are mandatory. Please consider turning in all 6 pages so we are aware of your student’s medical history.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the TJ Sports Physical event or changes to the VHSL PPE form, please reach out to Head Athletic Trainer, Dr. Heather Murphy: HRMurphy@fcps.edu
