Greetings, Irving Families!
Welcome to the summer edition of the Irving MS Newsletter. We are busy planning and preparing to welcome our students back to school on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 7:30 am! In this newsletter, normally sent on Friday evenings, we will include important upcoming dates, school and school division information, as well as updates from the PTA, our Music Boosters, and at times West Springfield High School. We hope you find this newsletter helpful and informative.
I hope you enjoy the rest of summer break!

Looking for something for your child to do during the summer? Irving Middle School offers math resources on our website.
- For students enrolled in Math 7 Honors, we suggest that your child complete the Math 6 to Math 7 Honors Screener on their own and without a calculator to see how they do with the work. If they have some difficulty, they can work on the Math 6 to Math 7 Honors Summer Packet and get help as needed.
- There are answer keys provided on the website to help check your child's work.
Please note the summer math work is NOT required.
Irving Middle School’s Summer READ! Program is an optional program for rising 7th and 8th grade students that runs through August 17. There is a choice board with reading options for participating students. When students read something that fulfills a square on the choice board, they fill out a Google form to report that they’ve completed it. For every Google form submission, the student’s name is entered into a drawing. A student may enter a maximum of 24 entries by completing all spaces on the choice board. At the beginning of 25-26 school year, a drawing will be held for Barnes & Noble gift cards. Four $25 gift cards will be given to the winners. A student may win only 1 card. Here’s a promotional video with all of the details.
