Good morning and welcome to the Sunday edition of Morning Wire, where we give you the weekend rundown to get ready for the week ahead. Today, President Donald Trump succeeded in pushing his bill through, but the victory may carry lasting political consequences, and a popular right-wing Croatian singer sparked controversy at a massive concert.

But first, rescue teams are searching a devastated Texas region where floods have claimed over 50 lives and left at least 27 girls from a summer camp unaccounted for.

Texas floods leave at least 51 dead, 27 girls missing as rescuers search devastated landscape

Rescuers scoured a devastated central Texas landscape of mangled trees, overturned cars and muck-filled debris in an increasingly bleak mission to locate survivors, including 27 girls who have not been seen since their camp was slammed with a wall of water in a historic flash flood. Authorities still have not said how many people were missing beyond the children from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp along a river in Kerr County where most of the dead were recovered. A hugely popular right-wing Croatian singer and hundreds of thousands of his fans performed a pro-Nazi World War II salute at a massive concert in Zagreb, drawing criticism. One of Marko Perkovic’s most popular songs, starts with the dreaded “For the homeland — Ready!” salute, used by Croatia’s Nazi-era puppet Ustasha regime that ran concentration camps at the time.
