How to let go of a love that has hit a ‘dead end’?

Dear Carolyn: How do you let go of a relationship that still has a lot of love and fun in it but has hit a dead end? Namely, one partner wants to start taking steps toward marriage and children, while the other partner isn’t ready for those things and says they aren’t interested in making a “five-year plan” right now.
