Montreal’s public health department registered 113 cases of Lyme disease in 2024, prompting the department to identify the island of Montreal — for the first time — as an endemic zone.
If left untreated, Lyme can lead to arthritis, heart palpitations, cognitive impairment, nerve damage, joint swelling and pain, facial paralysis and other complications.
