Glastonbury Festival founder Sir Michael Eavis has said those who don't share the event's political stance are welcome to look elsewhere for their festival fun.

Sir Michael, 89, alongside his daughter and co-organiser Emily Eavis, kicked off the iconic festival on Wednesday morning, celebrating the opening with a countdown and cheers as a brass band provided the soundtrack.

The festival is renowned for its political undertones, featuring areas like Left Field and Green Fields' Speakers Forum, which host discussions on a wide array of topics from feminism to fascism.
