The nights are short, the days are hot. It’s Glastonbury now, Wimbledon’s next week – summer’s in full swing. Surfing that wave, we head to west Cornwall where sculptor Holly Bendall shares her favourite places to walk, unwind and catch the best point breaks. “I love to get in the water first thing,” she says, “usually in Sennen Cove near Penzance. Nothing compares to the feeling you get from being in the water.” For sustenance, she recommends “the best cookie in the world” (it’s at St Eia in St Ives, so you know), a fabulous bakery, and her favourite spot for fish and chips.

In New York, Jay Cheshes checks out a new generation of haute Caribbean restaurants. We’ve also rounded up the coolest summer pop-ups, including a Jacquemus beach club takeover at Monte-Carlo Beach, a Burberry rave in Ibiza and Anya Hindmarch’s ice-cream store in Chelsea, with flavours from milk-chocolate Hobnobs to Kikkoman soy sauce. Inès Cross investigates the trend for what she calls “kindergarten-style jewellery”, an elevated take on the kind of sweetie-like beads you strung into bracelets and necklaces as a kid. “It chimes with fashion’s current playful impulse,” she writes. “On the streets, handbags are adorned with charms, ribbons and keyrings – a trend that harks back to the late Jane Birkin, whose Hermès bag (the original prototype of which goes on sale in Paris on 10 July) was personalised with everything from trinkets to chains.” Where to find the perfect summer tank | | |
