A judge in California temporarily halted the Trump administration’s military deployment in Los Angeles, ruling that the federal government did not have the authority to nationalize the state's National Guard because it didn't notify Gov. Gavin Newsom. U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer said Trump's actions were illegal, "both exceeding the scope of his statutory authority and violating the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution." The administration quickly appealed the order, which is scheduled to take effect Friday afternoon. |
