Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that he deployed more than 5,000 National Guard soldiers throughout the state ahead of expected protests this weekend over Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids.

Abbott had said he would be deploying Guard members but declined to say the number of troops until now.
