Why train supervisors on accommodations?

As part of our series on training supervisors, EEOC San Francisco District leaders Christopher Green and Nancy Sienko discuss the EEOC laws governing workplace requests due to religion, disability and pregnancy in “Frontline Supervisors, Accommodations, and Retaliation."

"We understand that supervisors are on the frontline, the first point of contact for employees," noted Green. "That's why it's so critical that employers equip supervisors with the skills they need to respond to requests effectively and in full compliance with the law."  Sienko added, "Chris and I together have many years of experience enforcing these laws and training EEOC investigators on these topics, in addition to our insights as managers who've responded to accommodations requests personally! This workshop will be anchored with real-world examples and provide attendees opportunities to practice and apply their learning."

Frontline Supervisors, Accommodations, and Retaliation

Are you or your frontline staff equipped to properly answer the following accommodation requests?

• Can a new hire ask for sign language interpretation during orientation?

This 3-hour virtual training will teach you how to respond to accommodation requests involving religion, disability or pregnancy. Get the tools to confidently engage in the interactive process, determine undue hardship, as well as recognize and prevent retaliation.

Cost: $300/per person

• This course has been approved for 3 hours of continuing legal education for the Nevada and submitted for CLE approval in California.
• The U.S. EEOC is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®.  This activity has been approved for 3 hours credit.
• This program has been pre-approved for 3 hours of HR (General) credit toward aPHR®, aPHRi™, PHR®, PHRca®, SPHR®, GPHR®, PHRi™ and SPHRi™ recertification through HR Certification Institute® (HRCI®).
• This course meets 3 Hours of the yearly 8-hour refresher training requirements for federal agency Investigator OR Counselor training.
