Dear Fairfax High School Community,

The air this week has been filled with the vibrant sounds of music and applause as our phenomenal performing arts program took center stage! We were treated to a spectacular array of talent, including the captivating MTAS Signature Spotlight program, the harmonious choral concert, and the masterful orchestra concert. The toe-tapping and hand-clapping applause that echoed through our auditorium were a testament to the tremendous dedication and skill of our student performers. Congratulations to all the students and faculty involved in these outstanding productions!

Beyond the arts, our students continue to demonstrate their commitment to academic excellence as the season of testing progresses. This week, we received WIDA and SOL results, and I am thrilled to report that our scholars are producing ROARing scores! Their hard work and perseverance are truly commendable.

In another impressive display of PAWSome presentation, our Geospatial Analysis students showcased their final projects this week to faculty from James Madison University. The depth and breadth of their research were truly inspiring, with projects tackling real-world issues such as power outages and resource access in Puerto Rico, the strategic placement and socioeconomic impact of major retailers like Target and Walmart, an insightful analysis to determine the optimal location for a powerlifting gym in Virginia, and an engaging study on the state distribution of gamefish in our freshwater lakes. This collaboration with JMU highlights the cutting-edge learning happening right here at Fairfax High School.

It is moments like these – witnessing the artistic brilliance on stage, celebrating academic achievements, and seeing students apply their knowledge to complex challenges – that make me incredibly proud to be the principal of Fairfax High School.

I am also excited to enjoy a “Night in Vegas” as we host Junior and Senior Prom tomorrow.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Principal's Signature
