When I was a newborn I’m pretty sure my father didn’t present me for inspection before deciding whether to accept me into the household (thanks, dad!) The abandonment of this ceremony, common in ancient Athens, is one (admittedly extreme) way in which modern fathers have it better than their forebears. But, as our piece on fatherhood notes, not all get to enjoy the blessings of greater equality.

And Britons increasingly find their speech is being restricted, particularly online. This crackdown is not coming from meddling illiberal politicians, but from the police. Broad and vague laws give public authorities excessive discretion.

I’m not afraid to say that I flopped miserably on the Nvidia question in our latest news quiz. Can you do any better?
