NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
Head Start, the landmark federal preschool program for children from low-income families, celebrates its 60th anniversary on May 18.
To mark the occasion, today K-12 Dive zooms in on how the program impacted the lives of three participants who attended Head Start in the 1970s — and grew up to be educators. All three credit their Head Start experiences for giving them a solid foundation for school and learning, and eventually leading them to careers in education. In a separate item, we also share with you a timeline looking back at key milestones in the six decades of Head Start.
