Baseball, after spending much of the first half of the season on the road, are now in the midst of a homestand, having hosted Justice and Lewis this week. The Hawks bats continue to be hot and the pitching sharp. The Wolves went down 16-3 while the Lancers finished the game on the losing side of an 11-0 game.
Softball only had a single game this week, hosting Justice in the second match-up of the season. Just like the weather, the bats of the softball team have been steadily warming up and the Hawks ended the night as a 16-1 victor.
Girls Lacrosse was off this week but returns to action at home on Monday when they will celebrate Senior Night and take on the Edison Eagles.
Boys Lacrosse travelled to Edison this week for another district match and came out fighting. It was a back and forth affair during the first half but the Hawks took control in the 2nd and came out on top, 14-7. On Saturday they travelled to South County for the first of two tournament games, taking on Oakton.
Girls Soccer continued to show their dominance in the district this week, travelling to TJ on Thursday and earning a 2-0 win and then heading around the beltway on Thursday to take on Falls Church in a tight game that saw the Hawks finish on top, 1-0.
Boys Soccer had a tough pair of matches at home, first going back and forth with TJ, getting down early before putting in a goal with minutes left in the game to pull to a 1-1 tie. On Thursday the Jaguars of Falls Church came to town and showed why they're one of the top teams in the district, take the game, 2-1.
Girls Tennis took on Annandale in a pair of matches, finally making up a previously rained out competition from last month. The Lady Hawks were victorious in both contests, taking the first 7-2 and the second, 6-3. In the third match of the week, the effort began to take its toll as the team struggled against to top team in the district, TJ, falling 0-9.
Boys Tennis picked up a pair of district wins, sweeping Annandale 9-0 on Tuesday as well as finishing a previously delayed set of doubles to take both contests against the Atoms this season. On Thursday they took the courts against perennial powerhouse TJ and although they lost, they took two games from the Colonials, 2-7.
Track & Field hosted the weekly district track meet on Wednesday and took time out to celebrate the many seniors that have dedicated time and effort to the Hawk's program.
