Thanks for tuning in last week to NPR’s 1A episode, “Finding Agency In Chaos,” which focused on building a sense of control in our lives during chaotic times. Dave Gallagher says the episode reminded him of The Karate Kid Part II when Mr. Miyagi teaches Daniel, the kid in the film, the importance of being able to focus.
Today, we’re listening to NPR’s Planet Money. The episode, “How much for that egg,” dives into when an NPR employee wrote a message to his colleagues saying he has extra eggs to sell for cheap. He said he needed a fair way to distribute them during a shortage. That’s when the Planet Money team stepped in. The team looked into novel systems to help out their colleague and discovered a pricing method used in development economics that may be America's next great game show. Read the transcript here. |

It's time for the Sunday Puzzle! For today's on-air challenge, Will Shortz, NPR's puzzle master, is going to name some things. For each one, you tell him something the object has that starts with the same first two letters. For example, a tree has a trunk, and both words start with “tr.” Test your skills here. Check this page later to hear the answers, or catch them live on Weekend Edition at 8:41 A.M.
This week's online challenge comes from listener Alan Guttman, of Hampton, Va. Name an activity in the form of "blank and blank." Move the first letter of the second word to the start of the first word. The result will be two modes of transporting things. What is the activity, and what are the modes of transport? Submit your answer and you could win a chance to play next Sunday's on-air puzzle. |
