This week, Forbes released its 39th annual World’s Billionaires List, featuring a record 3,028 people across the globe who are members of the three-comma-club.
There are a number of ways that folks can mint a 10-figure fortune these days, such as by building a burrito empire, producing stylish yoga gear and, of course, entering the ever-expanding world of tech.
But for the 11th straight year, the most common route to achieving billionaire status is by way of the finance and investments industry. It has more billionaires than any other with 464, or 15% of the list, and is led once again by Warren Buffett, the 94-year-old Oracle of Omaha, who has an estimated $154 billion fortune (up $21 billion since last year thanks to a rise in Berkshire Hathaway stock).
