Mercedes to unify design for EVs, combustion-engine cars

Mercedes will unify the design language of its electric and combustion-engine vehicles, similar to BMW's approach. The automaker aims to reverse declining electric vehicle demand by moving away from low-drag designs and introducing "dozens of new or refreshed models" by 2027, including a mix of electric and combustion engine options.

Report: Automakers shifting to SAE Level 3 AV tech

A report from IDTechEx shows that automakers are beginning to transition from SAE Level 2 to Level 3 autonomous vehicles, where cars can take full control under certain conditions. Mercedes-Benz has introduced Drive Pilot in Germany, California and Nevada, while BMW has received approval for Level 3 in its 7 Series in Germany. Ford Motor is testing Level 3 vehicles, with widespread availability expected by 2026. Level 4 testing is underway in cities such as Beijing and San Francisco, but Level 5 autonomy remains distant.

American Airlines adds bag tracking with AirTags

American Airlines has integrated Apple's AirTag tracking service into its app, allowing travelers to share the location of their AirTags when luggage is misplaced and helping the airline find it. United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Air Canada also offer the option.

More people use Facebook than any other social media platform to find and research products, Bazaarvoice reports in its Shopper Experience Index. YouTube followed closely, with 53% of respondents using it compared to Facebook's 54%, and social media enabled 82% more purchases in 2024 than in 2021.
