Whistleblower Office Advances Digital Initiatives and International Collaboration

The IRS Whistleblower Office continues to advance key initiatives by leveraging technology and strengthening coordination with program stakeholders and government agencies.

The IRS Whistleblower Office expanded end-to-end digital solutions to enable electronic submissions, enhance analysis of referrals, streamline claim processing, and support electronic award payments. The launch of digital Form 211, Application for Award for Original Information, and IRS.gov/SubmitATip is part of an agency-wide effort to make it easier for individuals to report suspected tax fraud, scams, evasion, and other tax-related illegal activities. Publication 5251, The Whistleblower Claim Process, was updated to explain how whistleblowers can submit a claim for award electronically. The digital submission process enables whistleblowers to provide information to the IRS more efficiently, helping the agency respond more quickly to suspected fraud.

The IRS Whistleblower Office is also strengthening international collaboration. In a recent news release, the IRS highlights partnership with UK tax authority’s new whistleblower program, emphasizing ongoing efforts to identify global tax evasion and strengthen cross-border compliance.

The IRS Whistleblower Office remains committed to advancing the program through effective referral analysis, continued technology advancements, and closer collaboration among the IRS, whistleblowers and their representatives, whistleblower programs, and other stakeholders. These initiatives promote the effective use of whistleblower information and fraud referrals while improving services for whistleblowers and other stakeholders.
