Dear Veterans,
In case we haven't met, I'm EHRMA the Cow - the mascot for Madison VA Hospital and Clinics' new Federal Electronic Health Records (EHR) that go live in January.
The good news - what you see when you login to your online account with the new system won't change much and you'll continue to use My HealtheVet for secure messaging with your healthcare team.
There will be changes to a few things that I'll guide you through over the next few months. I'll lead the herd, so to speak.
Some time sensitive information for you:
- While the changes to your records won't look much different to you, the changes we see on the clinical side are very different and require a lot of training. Staff and providers will be attending training sessions and practicing using the new system ahead of its launch. We ask for your patience as staff learn the new system.
- There will be fewer appointments available as we move closer to our January go-live date and then we'll slowly ramp back up to normal activities after that.
- We’re still here to address your healthcare needs during this transition. Please continue to contact us regarding your care needs. If we can’t get you an appointment here, we can attempt to connect you with a community provider when appropriate and when possible based on our emergent needs, community wait times and healthcare needs.
- During this transition, we may need to reschedule some appointments. If so, your care team will renew or refill any needed prescriptions. Again, we'll still have appointments and we're still here to assist; however, it may not be the timeliness that you or we are use to. This is temporary and it's all an investment for better overall Veteran healthcare - please be patient.
I'm COWmitted to making this mooo-ve as clear and stress-free as possible.
Visit digital.va.gov/ehr-modernization to learn more about the transition and find out how you can be prepare.
Moo-ving forward together, EHRMA T. Cow
