Alabama is requesting to renew the Alabama Community Waiver Program for a period of five years, through September 30, 2031. This demonstration functions in collaboration with an approved 1915(c) waiver program to provide home and community-based services to certain individuals in the state. With this demonstration renewal, the state seeks to expand access to home and community-based services, increase self-direction and community integration, reduce crisis events, improve provider stability, and lower costs. Alabama proposes to remove the section 1115-only "Group 5" enrollment group for the renewal period. The federal public comment period will be open from October 7 2026 to November 6, 2026.
