 Now available: flu vaccines
Flu season is here. A yearly flu vaccine lowers your risk of getting sick and can ease your symptoms if you do. VHA recommends a flu vaccine every year, plus washing your hands often and staying home when you're sick.
October and November are the best months to get vaccinated. Make your plan now to beat the rush.
When can I get a shot? Vaccines are available at Madison VA Hospital and Clinics now.
What's the easiest way? You have two options:
-
Add a flu shot to a visit you already have. You can get one at primary care and most specialty care appointments (not dental or vision). No separate appointment needed. To schedule, call 608-256-1901.
-
Walk in to the Madison VA Hospital lobby. Starting Oct. 15, 2026, stop by Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. No appointment needed.
Is there a flu shot event near me? Extra staff and appointments will available at these clinic events:
Baraboo — Oct. 20, noon to 4:30 p.m.
Beaver Dam — Oct. 6, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
East — Oct. 9, 7 a.m. to noon — Oct. 23, noon to 4:30 p.m.

Rockford — Oct. 16, noon to 4:30 p.m. — Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to noon

Can I go somewhere closer to home? Yes. You can get a flu shot in the community. Find the nearest location and learn how to update your VA records.
