The leadership of the Democratic Party is so confident of success in November’s elections that they’ve launched an all-hands-on-social-media effort to promote an unbelievable characterization of President Donald Trump’s remarks at a Monday campaign rally in Nebraska. This is not the behavior of people who think they are coasting to victory. In his rambling way Mr. Trump was making the case that higher oil prices resulting from the Iran war are a small price to pay for protecting the country from a potential nuclear attack. By rambling this column means long, tedious minutes dedicated to
boastful asides. Roll Call has published a transcript. Around four minutes into his remarks Mr. Trump said: You know, by the way, uh, we’re kicking Iran’s a—. You do know that, right? And that’ll end soon. It’s gonna end one way or the other. It’s gonna end very soon and your prices are gonna come tumbling. All your prices have been tumbling down. In fact, oil is less than it was under Biden, just so you understand. And we are
saving this country from a problem and the Middle East and Israel and everybody. We’re saving the world from what could be one of the worst tragedies ever. We’re not gonna let them have it and they won’t have. That’s, that’s decided. They will not have a nuclear weapon. They understand that. They understand that. And that’ll end very quickly, one way or the other very soon, maybe a little after the election, maybe a little before that, but it’s gonna end very soon.
