It was fine weather for the Dubbo Gold Cup last weekend. The event brings together some of the best of the country picnic racehorses with some exciting prize money on offer.

Local trainer Connie Greig won both of the picnic cups, stable jockey Leandro Ribeiro again proved dominant in the NSW Picnic Jockey Premiership and ABC racing correspondent Col Hodges OAM was recognised for a lifetime of service to racing across the Central West and Western Plains.

ABC's Geoff Mann enjoyed the day immensely alongside reporters Jen McCutcheon and Zaarkacha Marlen (pictured).

Now with a long weekend and daylight savings on the horizon there's even more time to get out and about to enjoy an abundance of markets, exhibitions and events.

As a new arrival to the region, I'm finally getting on top of my hay fever and look forward to the extra downtime to explore even more of what the Western Plains have to offer.

See you next week.
