Bad news for Tom Cruise fans. His new movie,
Digger,
will give virtually every viewer the urge to flee the theatre not just for the evening, but forever. Cruise plays oil tycoon Digger Rockwell, whose offshore rig operations cause a massive ice shelf to break free and head toward Europe. Chaos ensues. Film critic Barry Hertz doesn’t mince words: “This is a movie so convinced of its own brilliance that it cannot see it is in fact the most banal variety of idiot: loud, ugly and forever oblivious to its own shortcomings.” Ouch.
