Hi Roksana,
Your nervous system is your body's master communication network. Its primary role is to keep you safe.
However, when you experience trauma, ongoing stress, fear, conflict or emotional overwhelm, it can become stuck in survival mode. Instead of recognising that the threat has passed, it continues responding as though danger is still present.
You may feel anxious, reactive, emotionally overwhelmed, shut down, exhausted or disconnected from yourself. Many people become so accustomed to living in survival mode that they no longer realise how much energy they are using simply to cope.
I'd love to share a simple process with you to start to calm your Nervous System.
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Rest your hands on your thighs with your palms facing upwards. Gently bring the tips of your thumbs and index fingers together, allowing the other fingers to relax.
Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, then slowly breathe out through your mouth with slightly pursed lips.
Repeat this several times, allowing each breath to become slower and more relaxed.
Imagine a soft green light flowing through your brain, spine and entire nervous system.
With every breath, allow this soothing green light to move through every nerve fibre and pathway, releasing tension and restoring balance.
Quietly repeat to yourself:
I am calm.
I am safe.
I am supported.
Imagine yourself moving through the rest of your day feeling calm, safe and confident, responding to life's challenges with greater ease and trust.
When you're ready, gently open your eyes.
