Many of us believe he’s the best pitcher we’ve ever seen. He’s a blue-chip, first-ballot Hall of Famer, part of the Red Sox team that broke the Curse, and seen on TBS after Sox playoff games in any given October.
He’ll be 55 next month and spends every year shuttling between Boston and his native Dominican Republic, when he’s not working in Atlanta. He has no regrets about saying “The Yankees are my daddy,” all those years ago, and he thinks the Red Sox have a shot to beat the Yankees in New York next week.
He is the one and only Pedro Martinez, and he’s spending Thursday in Lawrence with his wife, Carolina, launching an after-school coding program at South Lawrence East Elementary School, then engaging in a question-and-answer session with hundreds of students at Lawrence High School.
